Money better spent

Alaska communities need investments now. Rather than fund this costly boondoggle, our state could invest that money in…

Lifting up our underfunded public school system

Funding a reliable ferry system

Developing communities around Alaska

Supporting small businesses

Fixing our neglected
roads and bridges

This project puts the interest of foreign mining companies over the needs of everyday Alaskans. If built, this industrial road would pave the way for trucks to rumble through this nearly roadless landscape at all hours. The road would cross major rivers and at least 182 streams essential to salmon, contaminating water. It would also threaten small businesses and the area’s existing economy.

The Threat

The Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA) has $8.5 million in state funding to advance the project. In May 2022, AIDEA filed a permit application with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build the road. If approved, the permit would allow AIDEA to destroy thousands of acres of wetlands and other critical fish and wildlife habitat across the Susitna watershed. The industrial road would benefit Nova Minerals, an Australian firm, with aspirations to develop a mining district.
